The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, confirmed that Brussels and London reached a partnership agreement after the completion of Britain’s withdrawal from the community. According to the politician, the deal will ensure fair access to the common market and balanced conditions for fishing. It will also protect the interests of the European Union, guarantee fair competition and ensure predictability for European fishermen, she added.

The Council of the European Union and members of the British House of Commons should approve the deal by January 1, when the post-Brexit transition period expires.
