OREANDA-NEWS. Great Britain decided to expel two Belarusian diplomats from its territory. This was announced on November 10 by the head of the British Foreign Office, Dominic Raab.

This step is a mirrored response to the decision of the Belarusian authorities to declare two diplomats of the United Kingdom personae non grata.

“The UK will not be cowed by the attempts of Lukashenko’s regime to stop us speaking out about the rigged election & the despicable violence against the Belarusian people. Today, we have expelled 2 Belarusian diplomats in response to the unjustified expulsion of British diplomats,” Raab wrote on his Twitter page.

Reuters, citing the representative of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, reports that the Ambassador of Belarus in London, Maksim Yermolovich, was summoned to the British Foreign Office.

On November 9, the press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Anatoly Glaz informed that Minsk was forced to expel two employees of the British Embassy because of their “destructive actions that are incompatible with the status of a diplomat”. According to the TV channel ONT, since May, Lisa Tamwood and Timothy White-Boycott have been noticed several times in the company of Belarusian oppositionists; the diplomats collected information about the political situation in the republic.
