OREANDA-NEWS. The Executive Committee of Grodno agreed to fulfill a number of requirements of the headquarters of the former presidential candidate of Belarus Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and trade unions. Thus, Grodno became the first Belarusian city, the authorities of which agreed with the demands of the protesters.

The decisions made by the city authorities are the following: creation of a council of public consent, which will include representatives of civil society and executive and legislative bodies; permission to hold mass actions on two squares in the center of the city; organization of medical, technical and informational support at the meetings; organization of proceedings on all the facts of citizens’ complaints about causing harm to health; release of people detained for participating in the protests; abolition of administrative penalties for workers participating in the strike.

Grodno is located in the west of Belarus; it is the fifth most populous city in the republic with more than 356 thousand residents.
