OREANDA-NEWS In 2020, for the first time in 28 years, the Russian Navy (Navy) will receive six submarines at once from the shipbuilding industry, including four nuclear submarines.

On Friday, August 23, TASS reported, citing a source in the Russian military-industrial complex.

“According to the contracts, Sevmash in 2020 is to hand over to the fleet the first serial submarine of project 955A“ Prince Oleg ”and the first serial submarine of project 885M“ Novosibirsk ”, the statement said.

Also, Sevmash will hand over to the Navy the head submarine of project 885M Kazan and the nuclear submarine of special purpose Belgorod of project 09852.

It is noted that the fleet has not received such a number of submarines per year since 1992. Regularly, the Navy began to receive new submarines only in 2013.
