OREANDA-NEWS. The former president of Georgia, the head of the Ukrainian Executive Committee for Reforms, Mikheil Saakashvili, was attacked in Athens. The video was published by the Internet portal Tvalsazrisi.ge on October 12.

The incident took place the day before, when Saakashvili arrived to Greece to meet with Georgian emigrants in preparation for the parliamentary election in Georgia scheduled for October 31. The politician was surrounded by supporters, and a young man in a hood attacked him, he struck several blows to the head of Saakashvili. The Greek special forces arrived at the scene.

Saakashvili previously stated that he is pursued by Georgian criminals, who are subordinate to Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze. “I was warned that it is better not to come to Greece, but I will go, they don’t know me well! We will meet in Greece. And then we’ll meet in Georgia!” the politician said.
