OREANDA-NEWS. In Belgrade, during the riots, which began because of introduction of new quarantine restrictions, protesters broke into the parliament building.

It is known that in total, about 5 thousand people gathered in front of the parliament building. Radical demonstrators attacked the police, burned three police cars and several garbage containers. Law enforcement officers used tear gas and other special equipment to stop the protesters.

“At some point, the available number of officers became insufficient to counter the mass of citizens, who attacked and wanted to illegally enter the Assembly (Parliament. – Ed.), and retreated under pressure, and when they consolidated with additional forces, they managed to oust the hooligans from the Assembly”, the head of the police department said.

Opposition activists Daniel Knezevic and Srdan Nogo were detained.
