OREANDA-NEWS. Bloomberg agency reports, citing sources, that the administration of American President Donald Trump put pressure on the Indonesian authorities, forcing them to abandon deals on the purchase of 11 Russian fighters Su-35 for the sum of about 1.1 billion US dollars, and Washington has gained its point.

It is also noted that under the threat of sanctions, Indonesia rejected negotiations with China on the purchase of naval patrol vessels worth about 200 million dollars.

It became known about the signing of a contract with Jakarta for the supply of Russian combat aircrafts at the beginning of 2018. However, because of US sanctions, its implementation has not yet begun. In July 2019, the Ambassador of Indonesia to Russia Mohamad Wahid Supriyadi stated the delay was due to the complexity of the trading scheme, which involved both government departments and companies.
