OREANDA-NEWS. In Belarus, 39 law enforcement officers and more than 50 civilians were injured during the riots, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic said.

About 3 thousand protesters against the results of the presidential election were detained. The Ministry of Health of Belarus informed that medical assistance was provided to everyone who needed it.

The presidential election took place on August 9. According to preliminary data, the current head of state Alexander Lukashenko gained 80.23 % of votes. The headquarters of his main rival, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who received 9.9 %, does not recognize the results. After the end of voting, protests began in the country. Human rights activists reported of at least one person dead, but the Internal Ministry denies this.

The Investigative Committee of Belarus opened criminal cases on the fact of riots and violence against the militia. Participants and organizers of the actions face up to 15 years in prison.
