OREANDA-NEWS  In Italy, on Friday, December 12, public life was paralyzed by a varsal strike in protest against the government's planned reform of the labor market. The strike covered airports and train stations, urban transport, administrative services and the health care system. As part of the strike under the motto "This will not do!" more than 50 protest rallies were planned as Reuters reports.

Trade unions believe that the reforms proposed by the government of Prime Minister Matteo Renzi will not allow italy to lead italy out of recession and create new jobs. They are outraged by the government's intention to restrict the right to strike, facilitate the dismissal of employees and reduce public spending.

Italy is currently suffering from a huge state budget deficit. Unemployment is at an all-time high. Among young people, it exceeds 40 percent. Renzi assured that he would not allow the trade unions to lead him off the path of reform.
