OREANDA-NEWS. The Counselor-Envoy of the Embassy of Japan in Moscow was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with the exhibition organized in Tokyo and dedicated to the South Kuril Islands.

This was reported by the Russian agency on January 28. According to it, the exhibition named Territory and Sovereignty, which opened on January 21 with the support of Japanese authorities, offers visitors “propaganda materials allegedly proving the validity of Japan’s territorial claims on the South Kuril Islands.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared the indisputability of the sovereignty of the Russian Federation over this territory and emphasized that such events contradict the agreements of the leaders of the two countries on creating a positive atmosphere in relations between Moscow and Tokyo. “We see in this one more evidence of the unwillingness of the Japanese partners to fully recognize the results of the Second World War,” the message published on the Ministry website says.
