OREANDA-NEWS. Ukrinform news agency reports that the Kiev City Council annulled land lease agreements with the Russian Embassy. It is specified that those contracts regard not the territory where the diplomatic mission is currently located, but the plots of land for the future construction of the embassy, consulate and residence of the ambassador.

The decision of the City Council was confirmed by the author of the initiative, the deputy from the nationalist party Freedom Yury Syrotyuk. “For the next thousand years, we definitely do not need a room for the residence of the Russian ambassador, a new room for the embassy and consulate of the occupying country,” the politician wrote on Facebook.

In 2014, Russia and Ukraine recalled their ambassadors. Now the diplomatic mission in Kiev is headed by Chargé d’Affaires Alexander Lukashik.
