OREANDA-NEWS. The incumbent Mayor of Kiev, former professional boxer, Vitaly Klitschko, has won election of the head of the Ukrainian capital. This was reported by the head of the city’s election commission, Valentina Korolkova.

According to her, 365,161 citizens, or 50.52 %, voted for Klitschko. Thus, a second round of elections for the mayor will not be required.

Elections to local self-government bodies were held in Ukraine on October 25; their results should be announced by November 6.

The day before the election, Klitschko informed that he had contracted the coronavirus and went into self-isolation. He returned to work this week.

The mayor of Kiev is elected for 5 years. Klitschko took office in 2014, winning early elections, and a year later he was reelected.
