OREANDA-NEWS. Statements about support for one of the parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict add fuel to the fire, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, claimed.

“The Kremlin, first of all, proceeds from the need for a quickest ceasefire and stoppage of hostilities. Any statements about any military support or military activity definitely add fuel to the fire. We are categorically against this, and we do not agree with such a formulation of the question,” Peskov said. According to the politician, Russia calls on all countries, especially its partners, “such as Turkey,” to do everything to convince Armenia and Azerbaijan to cease fire and “return to a peaceful settlement of this long-standing conflict by political and diplomatic means.”

Previously, media reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on Azerbaijan “to end the occupation of its territories by Armenia.”
