OREANDA-NEWS. Former President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma left the Trilateral Contact Group on resolving the situation in Donbass.

This is stated in a message published on July 28 on the website of the Office of the current head of state, Volodymyr Zelensky. “Thank you for all the efforts you have made to unblock the Minsk process and to achieve peace. Your experience was essential and overwhelming. I am always ready to hear your advice in the future,” Zelensky said to Kuchma. The head of state emphasized that the politician’s work in the Minsk process was important and added that he treats Kuchma’s decision to leave with respect.

Kuchma twice led the Ukrainian delegation to the Contact Group. The last document agreed with his participation obliged the parties to completely cease fire. Additional measures to “support and comply with the current indefinite ceasefire for the entire period until a full… settlement of the conflict” entered into force on July 27.
