OREANDA-NEWS. Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), Vladimir Zhirinovsky, said that all deputies of the State Duma may resign in protest against the detention of the governor of the Khabarovsk Krai, Sergey Furgal.

“As a protest, we can… resign. If necessary, the LDPR faction will abdicate responsibility and go from here,” the politician said, speaking at the State Duma’s meeting. Zhirinovsky also announced the possibility of gathering of all deputies from the party near the investigatory isolation ward, where Furgal is imprisoned, or asking the governors of Smolensk and Vladimir regions representing the party to resign in solidarity with the arrested. “Let the whole world know what kind of mess is in the country,” Zhirinovsky resumed.

Furgal was detained on July 9. He is accused of organizing and committing a number of serious crimes against the life and health of entrepreneurs in 2004–2005.
