OREANDA-NEWS. Among the three most hostile countries threatening the UK, British Minister of State for Security Damian Hinds named Russia, China and Iran. An interview with the politician was published on Sunday, December 26, by the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

«The three countries I told you about physically have human resources, they have a powerful presence in cyberspace, and they are capable of deploying large-scale forces», Hinds stressed. According to the State Minister, these states also conduct information operations and participate in it «in many different ways».

In this regard, the interlocutor of the media pointed out the need to update British legislation on countering foreign intelligence. According to Damian Hinds, in some of its provisions it is almost 100 years out of date.

The new law proposed by the British government on countering state threats provides for the creation of a new «foreign influence registration scheme» to combat espionage of foreign countries, The Daily Telegraph reminds. The Minister of State named North Korea as the fourth state from which London sees a threat.

Earlier, the head of MI6, Richard Moore, also listed Russia, China and Iran among the countries dangerous for the UK. On December 17, Russia, in response to UK sanctions against alleged accomplices in the poisoning of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, banned seven citizens of this country from entering the country. These Britons are «closely involved in anti-Russian activities», the Russian Foreign Ministry said at the time.
