OREANDA-NEWS. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that the negotiations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on a contract for the supply of oil failed due to excessive requirements of Russia.

“Why haven’t we agreed with the president of Russia on oil? Because Russia wants us to buy oil from them at prices higher than world prices. Who ever heard the like?” the politician stated.

During the speech at the ceremony of award “For Spiritual Renovation”, Lukashenko also emphasized that he is sincerely committed to the idea of ​​the sovereignty of the country. He warned of an acute period in the history of independent Belarus, saying: “We are walking and staggering left and right. …If we make any inaccurate, wrong step we will lose everything.”
