OREANDA-NEWS. Current President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will be able to participate in the repeated election of the head of state. This was stated by Maria Kalesnikava, a member of the presidium of the Coordination Council for the transfer of power in the country.

According to her, the Belarusian opposition does not see any obstacles to Lukashenko's participation in the new election. “We see that even with the administrative resource, even with the grossest falsifications, he lost. We proceed from the premise that every citizen of Belarus should have the right to participate in elections, there should be no obstacles,” Kalesnikava explained. However, she noted that the opposition does not believe that Lukashenko will participate in the new presidential election.

According to Kalesnikava, the new election should be held “in strict accordance with international standards” under the supervision of international observers. All members of the Central Election Commission should be replaced by new people, she added.
