OREANDA-NEWS. German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel scheduled a conference on Libya on January 19.

The announcement was published on January 14 on the official website of the German government. “Chancellor Angela Merkel, in agreement with the UN Secretary General, decided to invite the heads of state and government to Berlin, to the Office of the Federal Chancellor for a conference on Libya on Sunday, January 19, 2020,” the statement says.

The conference will bring together representatives of Algeria, China, Egypt, France, Great Britain, Italy, Russia, Turkey, the UAE, the USA, as well as the United Nations, the European Union and the African Union. The head of the Libyan Government of National Accord Fayez al-Sarraj and the commander of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Haftar are also invited to the German capital.
