OREANDA-NEWS. The Ukrainian company «Naftogaz» announced on Wednesday, March 27, that Denmark had come out against the construction of the «Nord Stream - 2» gas pipeline in its territorial waters.

This was reported on the company's official Twitter page.

«Gazprom» received another refusal by Denmark regarding the «Nord Stream 2» route, says the record.

A number of European countries, as well as the United States and Ukraine, oppose the construction of a gas pipeline. On March 12, the European Parliament approved an act that calls on EU countries to halt the implementation of the «Nord Stream - 2» project, since the gas pipeline “strengthens the dependence of European states on Russian fuel supplies.” The document also excludes Moscow from the list of strategic partners of Brussels and offers to expand personal anti-Russian sanctions. The resolution is not binding.

On March 11, «The Wall Street Journal» learned about the preparation of new sanctions against «Nord Stream - 2». They will be directed against investors and companies that have contracts for the laying of pipes.

According to an anonymous US security official, President Donald Trump considers the Russian gas pipeline to be incompatible with the "military shield that America holds over Europe."

The «Nord Stream - 2» is being built under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany in order to ensure gas supplies to Europe.

In the Kremlin, commenting on this news, they said that additional sanctions by the United States on the project are a manifestation of unfair economic competition.
