OREANDA-NEWS. On April 15, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg reported that the budgets of member countries of the alliance will be reduced due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it is not yet possible to estimate the size of the decline in their military spending.

According to the politician, a pandemic will have significant economic consequences, there will be a drop in growth and budgets. However, it is too early to talk about military spending, since nowadays the NATO must focus on saving people, Stoltenberg added.

In March, NATO representatives spoke about the impact of coronavirus infection spread on the activities of the military bloc. In particular, they had to redraw the schedule of military exercises.
