OREANDA-NEWS. Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, believes that dialogue is the best way for allies to interact with the Russian Federation.

The politician noted during a video conference, held by the German Institute for Global and Area Studies, that he had a lot of experience in cooperation with Russia in Norway. He urged all NATO allies not to be afraid to speak with Moscow. Russia is the Alliance’s neighbour, so we are interested in de-escalation, in preventing an arms race and a new cold war, Stoltenberg said. At the same time, he added that if Russia confronts NATO, the latter will be ready to respond.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, also called for a resumption of dialogue with all NATO member countries in order to comprehensively consider all security issues on the European continent and in the Euro-Atlantic region.
