OREANDA-NEWS. More than 20 thousand people took part in the protest actions that took place on September 20 in Belarus. This is stated in a message published on Monday in the Telegram channel of the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, Olga Chemodanova.

“24 protest actions with the participation of more than 20 thousand people were recorded in various settlements of the country,” the message says. It is added that the number of protesters in Minsk at the peak time reached 18 thousand. “Citizens gathered in various parts of Minsk and moved to the city center. At 15:00, a column of thousand people headed towards the stele Hero City Minsk. During the march, the protesters moved chaotically along the streets of the capital, additional groups of people joined them. At the peak of the gathering, their total number reached 18 thousand people,” the message says. The Ministry added that the unauthorized rally ended at about 18:00.

The agency also reported of the detention of 442 people for violating the legislation on mass events. 266 people were detained in Minsk.
