OREANDA-NEWS. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has extended until the end of 2021 the law on a special procedure for local self-government in certain areas of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. This decision was supported by the majority of the deputies on December 15.

“The bill extends by one year the possibility of temporarily introducing a special order of local self-government in certain areas of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, established by article one of the law of Ukraine On a Special Procedure for Local self-Government in Certain Areas of Donetsk and Lugansk Regions,” the explanatory note to the document says.

The text of the bill specifies that it will be valid until December 31, 2021. In addition to the formal prolongation, no other amendments have been made to the law, despite the fact that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky previously promised to prepare a new version of the law in 2020.
