OREANDA-NEWS. In connection with the current military situation, the Armenian authorities are considering the possibility of recognizing the independence of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, while Yerevan is aimed at establishing long-term stability in the region. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, on September 30 during a press conference with the Russian media.

“We have a goal to establish long-term peace and stability in the region. We do not want this situation to repeat in two or three years,” the politician said. “But Armenia will never act to the detriment of their national interests and the interests of Nagorno-Karabakh,” he added.

According to Pashinyan, Yerevan will ensure its security with or without the participation of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). “The discussion on the participation of the CSTO is a political issue. We closely cooperate with our partners in the organization, inform about the current situation. However, Armenia is ready to defend its security with or without the participation of the CSTO,” the Prime Minister said.

Earlier, the CSTO Secretariat informed TASS news agency that Armenia has not yet applied to the organization in connection with the aggravation of the conflict.
