OREANDA-NEWS. Poland intends to leave its military in the territory of the Rerpublic of Iraq.

This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki after a ministerial meeting with President Andrzej Duda. “We discussed this yesterday with the NATO Secretary General and decided to stay,” Morawiecki said. According to the media, there is a Polish military contingent of 200 people in Iraq now.

Earlier, the Iraqi parliament voted for the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country. It was also reported that the Iraqi authorities began preparing a mechanism for the withdrawal.

After that, US President Donald Trump threatened Iraq with sanctions. US Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper stated that the US Army has no plans to leave Iraq.
