OREANDA-NEWS. Foreign Minister of Poland, Jacek Czaputowitz, submitted his resignation.

The Ministry noted that the politician considers that after the presidential elections it is the most appropriate time to change the head of Polish diplomacy. “The Minister said earlier that after the presidential election it was a good time to change the head of Polish diplomacy, and expressed confidence that his successor would continue the current policy, and spoke in favour of further strengthening Poland’s position in the international arena,” the agency explained.

The first round of the presidential elections in Poland was held on June 28, but the winner was determined in the second round on July 12. The candidate from the ruling party Law and Justice, Andrzej Duda, gained 51.03 % of votes and became a head of state; the candidate from the opposition Civic Coalition, Rafal Trzaskowski, received 48.97 % of votes.
