OREANDA-NEWS. Jacek Sariusz-Wolski, a member of the European Parliament from Poland, said that sanctions for the events in Belarus, where mass protests have been continuing for several days after the presidential elections, should be imposed against the Russian Federation.

In the European Union, in connection with what is happening in Belarus, opinions about the possibility of considering sanctions against Minsk were voiced.

“What the EU could do, what Poland could offer is to aim sanctions at Russia and not at Belarus. Because this looks like punishing a sword, not a hand. If the role of Russian intervention or even annexation could be neutralized, then, I think, the Belarusians themselves would cope with the building of democracy,” Sariusz-Wolski said on the air of Polskie Radio.
