OREANDA-NEWS. A new official holiday, Victory Day, has been established in Azerbaijan; it will be celebrated annually on November 10. This follows from the order of President Ilham Aliyev. On this day, the agreements of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia on the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh began to operate.

In the document, the President reflected Baku’s point of view on the conflict, according to which Armenia occupied part of the territories originally belonging to Azerbaijan. Aliyev noted the victorious actions of the Azerbaijani army and the capture of several settlements, including the historically important city of Shusha.

The head of state said that Victory Day “will perpetuate this unprecedented victory, which has become a celebration of the strength of our people and our national pride.” “It is of exceptional importance for the prestige and future development of our state,” Aliyev resumed.
