OREANDA-NEWS. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov introduced a state of emergency on the territory of Bishkek from 20:00 local time. It will be valid until October 21. He also instructed the General Staff to bring troops into the city to protect law and order.

Almazbek Orozaliev, deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was appointed commandant of the city for the period of the emergency regime. In accordance with the presidential decree, a curfew, a special regime for the entry and exit of citizens, control of media, special rules for using communications, restrictions for traffic may be imposed in the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Mass events may be banned, and individuals may be prohibited from leaving their homes.

Jeenbekov also instructed the General Staff of the Armed Forces to bring to Bishkek military formations and equipment to organize checkpoints, suppress armed clashes, ensure the protection of law and order and protect the civilian population.
