OREANDA-NEWS. The President of Ukraine Volodymir Zelensky being at the meeting of the national Commission on Legal Reform proposed to develop a “concept of transitional justice” for Donbass and Crimea.

The politician noted that one of the priorities of the commission’s work is dealing with the “legal matters of reintegration of temporarily occupied territories”. In his opinion, to solve this problem it is necessary to develop mentioned concept. “These are the answers to difficult questions: what will be life of a person after regaining control over Crimea and the occupied parts of the east of the country, principles and forms of responsibility (and, in some cases, exemption from it) for cooperation with the occupation authorities,” said the President of Ukraine.

He explained that the concept should include the “measures for reparation of damages of the victims of the war, calling to account the persons who are responsible for serious crimes, exercising the right to receive the truthful information about the course of the conflict.”

In addition, Zelensky noted that there is a need for “a strategy for the de-occupation of the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and the east of the country, their return to Ukraine’s control and reintegration of the population”.

On October 1 Zelensky confirmed the approval of the “Steinmeier formula” by Kiev. The Ukrainian nationalists began a rally near the office of the President of Ukraine in Kiev and demanded the disclosure of the essence of the document and Zelensky’s resignation.
