OREANDA-NEWS. The entire European security system has seriously degraded, tensions are growing, the risks of a new arms race are becoming real, wrote Russian President Vladimir Putin in an article for the German weekly newspaper Die Zeit, the text of which was published on the Kremlin's website.

The President prepared an article dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.

Putin wrote: “Now the entire European security system has seriously degraded. Tensions are growing, the risks of a new arms race are becoming real. We are missing out on the huge opportunities that cooperation gives us, all the more so it is so important now that we are all faced with common challenges - the pandemic and its dire socio-economic consequences. Vladimir Putin also said that the world community needs to recognize the mistakes of the past and correct them.”

The President of Russia in the article "Be open despite the past", timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, stressed that the Russian Federation stands for the restoration of partnership with Europe, we have many topics of mutual interest.

Putin noted: “I repeat again: Russia stands for the restoration of a comprehensive partnership with Europe. We have many topics of mutual interest. These are security and strategic stability, health and education, digitalization, energy, culture, science and technology, solving climate and environmental problems. "
