OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin has voiced several proposals for cooperation in the field of cyber security between Russia and the United States, as well as around the world. The politician’s statement was published on the Kremlin website.

“One of the main strategic challenges of our time is the risk of a large-scale confrontation in the digital sphere. A special responsibility for preventing it lies with the key players in the field of international information security,” Putin claimed.

The Russian leader called for “maintaining the continuous and effective operation of communication channels” between competent Russian and American agencies through nuclear risk reduction centers, computer incident response teams and high-level officials who oversee international cyber security issues.

According to Putin, the authorities of both countries need to develop and sign an intergovernmental document on the prevention of incidents in the information space, which should be drawn up by analogy with the Agreement on the Prevention of Incidents on and over the High Seas signed by Moscow and Washington in 1972.
