OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the self-isolation regime due to cases of coronavirus detected in his environment. According to the president, he will be in self-isolation for «a certain time» and therefore will participate in the SCO and CSTO summits scheduled for September 15-17 via video link.

The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov did not specify who exactly was infected with COVID-19 in the entourage of the head of state, noting only that there were several cases of infection. The result of the COVID-19 test of the President of the Russian Federation is negative, the president is absolutely healthy, Peskov stressed. The press secretary also assured that during yesterday's personal meetings of the president, «no one's health was in danger».

On September 13, at a meeting with Paralympic athletes, Putin said that he might «soon have to be quarantined», since «a lot of people are sick around». Dmitry Peskov later said on this occasion that Putin expressed himself «figuratively».

Most of the people Putin meets with are required to spend a few days in quarantine beforehand. So, for example, in early September, the medalists of the Olympics and Paralympics went into quarantine, for some of them this negatively affected the preparation for future competitions. At the same time, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, with whom Putin also met recently, did not observe a preliminary quarantine.

In March, Putin announced that he had been vaccinated against the coronavirus. Later, the president clarified that he was vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine.
