OREANDA-NEWS Russia is interested in cooperation with Luxembourg in the areas of digital economy, innovation and space. This was stated by first Deputy chief of staff of the government Sergei Prikhodko on the eve of the official visit of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Luxembourg.

"Cooperation with the Grand Duchy in the digital economy and information technology is undoubtedly of particular interest to us. Luxembourg has achieved significant results in these areas, and its experience is worth studying," Prikhodko said.

The representative of the Cabinet added that Luxembourg is one of the world's largest financial centers that can provide a full range of services that Russian business needs. The Grand Duchy also cooperates with Moscow in the development of "smart" urban infrastructure, creation of technoparks and technopolises, Prikhodko noted.

The first Deputy Chief of staff of the government added that cooperation in the space field is promising. "The cluster of space technologies of VGL includes about 20 companies. The main activities are development and production of small spacecraft, electric rocket engines, composite materials for aviation and space applications, processing of earth remote sensing data, operator services," he said.

Prikhodko noted that there is progress in the development of relations in the field of financial technologies. "Last November, the Russian Association FINTECH and Luxembourg House of Financial Technologies signed a Memorandum of understanding, according to which the parties will contribute to the development and strengthening of partnership between the Russian and Luxembourg FINTECH communities," he explained.

Luxembourg partners successfully cooperate with the SKOLKOVO Foundation on the basis of a Memorandum signed in February last year with the Luxembourg Agency for science and innovation (Luxinnovation). According to Prikhodko, work is underway to exchange information and create new opportunities to promote innovative companies in the markets of both countries. It is expected that Luxembourg partners will take part in the startup village festival 2019, as well as in the Moscow international forum for innovative development "Open innovations".
