OREANDA-NEWS The Northern Fleet of the Russian Federation has completed exercises in the Barents Sea, Interfax reported, citing the fleet's press service. It is reported that ships and a nuclear-powered submarine took part in the exercise. The nuclear submarine played the role of a simulated enemy.

It is reported that the anti-submarine ships Severomorsk and Admiral Levchenko, as part of a ship search and strike group, practiced destroying a submarine of a conventional enemy in the Barents Sea.

It is specified that in the course of the exercise the submarine as the enemy had to overcome the anti-submarine line and attack. It was conditionally destroyed by a torpedo attack of anti-submarine ships.

The press service also says that NATO's major anti-submarine maneuvers Dynamic Mongoose will begin in the North Atlantic on Monday. Three submarines, 11 ships and 16 anti-submarine aircraft from the United States, Britain, Germany, France, Canada, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands and Portugal are expected to take part.
