Russia Will Spend About a Trillion Rubles to Re-Equip the Armed Forces in 2019
OREANDA-NEWS More than 1.44 trillion rubles are planned to be spent in 2019 on the implementation of the state defense order in terms of equipping the Russian Armed forces. This was announced on Tuesday, the Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
"More than 1 trillion 440 billion rubles are provided for the implementation of the state order in terms of equipping the Armed forces this year," he said at a conference call in the military Department.
"Almost 71% of these funds will be used for serial purchases of new models so that by the end of the year the share of modern weapons and equipment amounted to 67%," the Minister said.
He noted that the defense Ministry also faces important tasks in the field of capital construction and housing. "The main efforts of the military construction complex should be focused on the creation of military infrastructure in accordance with the system of basing of the Armed forces," Shoigu said. The Minister assured that the Department will continue to actively apply "modern standard projects, new technologies, especially in relation to objects that affect the combat capabilities of the army and Navy."
Shoigu also said that in 2019 housing can purchase up to 25 thousand military. In General, as reported, in 2020, the share of modern weapons and equipment in the armed forces should grow to 70%.
