OREANDA-NEWS. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow continues to pursue a line to refuse to make payments in US dollars. He stated it in an interview with The Times of India, which was published by the press service of the Ministry.

The head of Russian diplomacy noted that the de-dollarization process is taking place against the backdrop of a very aggressive use of “financial instruments of sanction pressure” by Washington. Lavrov added that payment in national currency is “an objective reaction to the unpredictability of US economic policy.” The minister also noted that the United States openly abuses “the status of the dollar as a global reserve currency.”

In November 2019, Lavrov called the dollar an unreliable currency because of “thoughtless US sanctions.”
