OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the world powers, which signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with Iran in 2015, to create conditions for a return to its implementation.

The agency considers the decision of Tehran to suspend voluntary obligations on a nuclear deal to be a result of accumulated contradictions. “The Russian side keeps full commitment to the JCPOA and its goals… The challenges that the international community had to face in the process of implementing comprehensive agreements require the manifestation of political will and a decisive collective response, primarily from the main participants of the JCPOA. We are sure that when these challenges are overcome, the Iranian side will have no reason to deviate from the agreed requirements,” the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement says. Moscow believes that the actions of Iran should be considered since May 2018, when the United States unilaterally broke the agreement.

A new reduction in the obligations of the nuclear deal was declared on January 5 after killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani by the Americans.
