OREANDA-NEWS. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova claimed that plans of the US administration to resolve the domestic political crisis in Venezuela, providing the creation of an interim government in the republic, were prepared “obviously in another era.”

According to her, in conjunction with the open persecution of the Venezuelan leadership by Washington, as well as with the start of large-scale exercises by the US Navy near the Venezuelan coast, the ideas expressed by the American side look like an “ultimatum to the legitimate authorities of an independent sovereign state,” and not as a step toward seeking national consent.

“Being familiarized with the content of the Washington’s initiative, we do not think that it deserves a serious answer,” the diplomat concluded.
