OREANDA-NEWS. Dmitry Kozak, deputy head of the administration of Russian president, called the negotiations with Ukraine on the Donbass similar to the theater of the absurd. However, he said that he still does not lose hope for a peaceful solution to the conflict.

The politician told that at the March meeting of the contact group, the Russian side proposed the creation of an advisory council to begin discussions on conflict resolution. This idea caused a strong protest in Kiev. Representatives of Ukraine, who signed the declaration of intent to create this body, were accused of high treason.

Kozak also called absurd the situation when many documents, including the declaration of the last summit of the Normandy Four, signed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, say that there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements, but at the same time, Kiev declares that there are some “red lines” that do not allow the authorities to comply with these agreements.
