OREANDA-NEWS. The European Union is concerned not with the fact that there is a war in the east of Ukraine and people dying, but with the fact that it fails to control the processes taking place there, including the desire of the country's residents to obtain a Russian passport. This is the opinion of Bogdan Bezpalko, a member of the Presidium of the Council for Interethnic Relations under the President of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Bloomberg agency, citing a document circulated among EU members, reported that Russia is allegedly trying to "de facto integrate" parts of eastern Ukraine through "illegitimate elections" and the issuance of passports to local residents. At the same time, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the issue of issuing passports is purely humanitarian in nature, Russia has no desire to create problems for Kiev, but the situation with civil rights in Donbass is crossing the border.

According to the RIA Novosti expert, the document referred to by Bloomberg, "is anti-Russian in nature, but does not change anything and does not solve anything." Bezpalko pointed out: "These statements reflect the EU's attitude to how they would like to see the post-Soviet space and that they do not like the processes that are taking place there, they do not control them, but nevertheless these processes are taking place."

According to the analyst, the European Union, obviously, is not worried about the main thing - "that there is a war going on in Ukraine, that people are being killed there, that they are discriminating against that they are changing their historical memory, and that Nazism is being rehabilitated." The political scientist asks: "Why are European politicians not concerned about the absence of an investigation into the crimes of May 2, 2014 in Odessa, for example, or war crimes in eastern Ukraine. Recently, a five-year-old child died from a drone bomb, why do not they care? They do not care that there is a civil war on the territory of Ukraine? Therefore, in my opinion, this is a reflection of such hypocrisy. "
