OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, being at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Skolkovo, said that American threats to Uzbekistan’s plans for integration into the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) are the use of non-competitive methods.

So the politician commented on the statement of Wilbur Ross Jr., the United States Secretary of Commerce. The head of the Russian government added that the threat from Washington, that cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Union would impede Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization, sounds strange.

According to Medvedev, the White House is disordering the organization of world trade, waging trade wars, and disorganizing international commerce. He noted that Americans are not happy with the cooperation and integration processes in Eurasia. “But we, no doubt, will continue this work with our partners in all spheres,” the Prime Minister stated.

“I believe… that our integration level is higher, so we should strive to ensure that… regulation, if other CIS (The Commonwealth of Independent States. – Ed,) countries agree with it, also moves towards higher forms of integration,” Medvedev said.

He also mentioned that the signing of an international treaty on the operations with precious metals and stones in the EAEU will help promote the export of jewelry products. This agreement will ensure mutual recognition of assay marks and remove one more barrier between the EAEU countries. At a meeting in Moscow, the prime ministers of the EAEU states also discussed issues of the alcohol market regulation.
