OREANDA-NEWSThe EU summit made the political decision on extension for half a year of economic sanctions against Russia as does not see progress in implementation of the Minsk Agreement across Donbass, the representative of the European Council, the supreme governing body of the EU reported on Thursday.

Restrictions concern financial, power and defensive sectors and also dual-use goods.
Earlier the EU Council for a year prolonged sanctions which were imposed in response to allegedly illegal annexation of the Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia.

Negotiations on a visa-free regime and on the new basic cooperation agreement were suspended, a ban on entry into EU countries for officials from the Russian Federation is imposed and their assets are frozen, restrictive measures of trade, financial and military character are entered.
