OREANDA-NEWS. The Government of Ukraine filed a new, ninth, interstate application against Russia with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). This was announced on Tuesday, February 23, by the Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine, Commissioner for the ECHR Ivan Lischina on Facebook.

«The statement concerns the allegations of the Government of Ukraine on the administrative practice of the Russian Federation, which is currently ongoing, regarding targeted operations to kill opponents of the Russian Federation in Russia and on the territory of other states, including members of the Council of Europe, outside of the situation of armed conflict», Lischina explained.

Earlier, the European Court of Human Rights said, that it was ready to partially consider the merits of Ukraine's interstate complaint against the Russian Federation on Crimea, and also concluded that Russia «exercised effective control over Crimea» since February 27, 2014.

In addition, the ECHR recently ruled on Georgia's claim against Russia, filed during the war in South Ossetia in August 2008. Thus, the court in Strasbourg did not recognize the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation on Georgian territory at the time of the hostilities from 8 to 12 August 2008.

Representatives of the Russian Federation have not yet commented on the situation with the complaint of Kiev.
