OREANDA-NEWS. 364 people were detained at protest actions in Belarus on September 23 held because the inauguration of the current President Alexander Lukashenko for the sixth term. This was reported by the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic, Olga Chemodanova. “In total, 364 citizens were detained yesterday for violating the legislation on mass events (252 of them in Minsk),” she said. “Before consideration of cases on administrative offenses in court, 320 people were put in the places of detention,” a message posted on the agency’s Telegram channel says.

According to the Ministry, a total of 59 rallies with the participation of about 5 thousand people were recorded in various settlements of the republic. It is also noted that protests on the day of the presidential inauguration became aggressive and were accompanied by clashes with law enforcement officers. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported there are victims among the militia. It is added that the participants in the clashes were mainly young people under the age of 30.
