OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin announced the start of optimization of the staff in the executive branch of power. The number of posts for officials will be cut, he announced at a meeting with deputy prime ministers.

The reform will begin on January 1 and will last for three months. “It is no longer possible to postpone the reform, it is important to quickly and efficiently adjust the system of public administration, as the president ordered. Therefore, I propose to start optimizing the public management system from January 1 and not to protract it, but to carry it out in three months, before April 1,” the head of the cabinet said.

In federal ministries and regional administrations, it is planned to annul 5–10 % of positions of officials. “In central offices, where are about 20 % of vacancies, the staff should be reduced by 5 %. In the territorial bodies of departments the average number of vacancies is about 18 % today. A decision was made to cut their staff by 10 %,” the Prime Minister explained.
