OREANDA-NEWS Washington has unleashed a “visa war” against Russian diplomats, and American diplomats in Russia are also suffering from this, Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov told reporters.

Earlier, the New York Times reported that Russia refused to issue visas to 30 teachers who teach at the Anglo-American school in Moscow. According to him, this is the fifth part of the entire teaching staff of the school. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the US authorities specifically created a deadlock situation to come up with another scandal.

He recalled that in April 2018, 60 Russian diplomats and members of their families - about 200 people in total - were expelled from the United States.

According to him, the restrictions affected teachers, cooks, gardeners, drivers. Antonov noted that he had applied to the State Department several times, "he offered various kinds of solutions," in particular, to remove administrative and technical personnel from the system of exchanges. In response, they demanded that visas be issued to American employees, and they promised to consider the situation with Russian employees no earlier than autumn.

Antonov called the false article in the New York Times, which said that American teachers in the Anglo-Russian school were denied visas. “Not a single refusal was made,” the diplomat stressed.
