OREANDA-NEWS The State Duma adopted in the third reading amendments to the law "on citizenship of the Russian Federation", which allows some categories of foreigners to obtain a Russian passport in a simplified manner. This was reported on the website of the lower house.

As it is noted in the explanatory note, it will allow to accept in citizenship of the Russian Federation first of all living in the countries with a difficult socio-political and economic situation where there are armed conflicts or unconstitutional change of a political regime.

It is noted that the right to determine the appropriate categories of foreigners is vested in the President of Russia. The amendments will make it possible to grant citizenship to people from countries with difficult socio-political and economic conditions, as well as from States where armed conflicts and regime change take place. In addition, the law simplifies the admission to Russian citizenship of compatriots living abroad.

The bill was submitted to the state Duma in early August.

In late June, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree granting Russian citizenship to a native of Ukraine Irina Barakat, who was injured in the shelling of Aleppo. She lost an arm and a leg, covering children at attack of fighters then it directed on treatment to St. Petersburg. Barakat made a request to Putin in the course of a straight line.

A decree of the President of the Russian Federation will be issued, according to which a number of categories of citizens of Ukraine will be entitled to simplified procedure of citizenship of the Russian Federation, said the head of the state Duma Committee on development of civil society, public and religious associations Sergey Gavrilov at a meeting of the Committee on December, 11.
