OREANDA-NEWSThe ruling Liberal Party of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau won the parliamentary election on Monday, but did not receive a majority in the lower house of the country's legislature, the House of Commons. To form a government, most liberals needed 170 mandates, but they didn't have enough victory in 14 constituencies to their cherished goal.

According to the latest data from the national election commission, liberals prevailed in 156 of 338 constituencies - 33.0% of the vote. The Conservative Party received support in 122 districts (34.5%). The Quebec Bloc won third place, winning 32 districts (7.9%), followed by the New Democratic Party (winning 24 districts, 15.9%) and the Green Party of Canada (winning three districts, 6.4 %). As a result of the election, the People’s Party of Canada lost its only mandate in parliament; it went to an independent candidate.

Almost 97% of the ballots are currently processed. The turnout is still estimated at 62.8%, but it does not take into account voters registered on election day. 27.4 million people have the right to vote in Canada.
